Travel: It’s All About The Experience ~ And Google’s New TOURING BIRD Travel Tool Is Here To Help!

Hey there, Gadabout Gal Kelly here! I have a little confession to make: I love to travel…but I DON’T love the endless online searching for the best activities and excursions that I might want to do, once I arrive at my destination.

C'mon, let’s admit it...creating an itinerary for an upcoming trip isn’t always fun. I get excited to find out about fun places and things to see and do, but searching and deciding between multiple options for activities and excursions is often very draining…and a lot of work!

Luckily, Google has come up with a new travel tool that can help make the process of planning your upcoming vacation just a little bit easier ~ it’s called Touring Bird.

Touring Bird helps travelers explore, compare, and book tours, tickets, and activities from multiple providers in top destinations around the world—all in a single place.

I must say, I’ve spent some time over the past few days checking out the entire site, clicking on various cities and reading about the different offerings and 'insider' suggestions…and I love it!

According to the Touring Bird website:

Traveling to new places is fun and exciting—but for a lot of people, planning what to do once you’re there is not. It often involves hours of research, reading dozens of travel guides and blogs across the web, sifting through reviews, compiling your own lists, comparing prices and offerings, and asking friends and family for recommendations. No one wants to waste precious vacation time on disappointing experiences or miss out on the best ones.

There has been a lot of progress in the travel industry to make the flight and accommodations booking process much better (yay!), but there is still a big user need for great tools that aggregate tours and activities across providers.Touring Bird addresses this need, helping people find the best tours and activities across multiple providers.

It’s basically a ‘one-stop-shop’ for travelers looking to find a range of experiences in a destination. Touring Bird partners with most major tour and activities providers to show great options, alongside many free tours and unique local experiences.

Touring Bird currently supports 20 cities ~ Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Miami, New Delhi, New York, Orlando, Paris, Prague, Rome, San Diego, San Francisco, Toronto, Washington, D.C. ~ with plans to increase its coverage in the coming months.

So far, Touring Bird is only web-based, so no app. It’s also only available in English and only includes U.S. and Europe-based locations.

When you select a destination city, you’ll see popular attractions, suggested tours and activities ~ along with prices, options for free guided tours, and recommendations from locals and travel bloggers.

Personally, I love that you can explore by interest, traveler type and activity type. Touring Bird curates hundreds of activities for every interest and type of traveler—from first-timers looking for classic experiences to those seeking more off-the-beaten-path activities, from families with kids to party animals to couples looking for romance. All offerings can be further filtered by type of activity, such as walking tours, classes, or social dining. In every city that I checked on the site, there were SO many fun, quirky and interesting ideas and options!

Once you’ve found a tour, attraction, or activity that interests you, you can dig deeper and see what’s included, when it’s available, prices, cancellation policies, and ratings. You can also filter by trip dates and when you’re ready, you can click straight to the provider’s website to complete the booking…quickly and easily. How great is that?

Currently, around 400 local contributors have added information for 25,000 activities ~ together with some 2,000 personal tips on how to get the most from your visit. It’s these personal tips that I found the most interesting when I was searching Touring Bird.

I am truly SO excited about this new site and I plan to share it with all of my travel-loving friends and family! I know that we Gadabout Gals will definitely use it to find some fun and unique tours and excursions for our upcoming group trip to Italy (we're headed to Rome and the Amalfi Coast) in September 2019!

So I say, ‘Thank you Google!’…and ‘Hello Touring Bird!’

TIP: While searching the site, you can bookmark your favorite activities and recommendations to a list, which you can even share with fellow travelers. This is a great feature to use if you are researching and planning a group trip, like many of our Gadabout Gals trips.
