Our Seat At The Magnolia Table
What a special way to start out the month of October! Gadabout Gal Michele took a trip to Texas to spend some time with Gadabout Gal Tiffany which is always an adventure! During this visit, Michele and Tiffany decided to take a back road trip through the Texas countryside to Waco so we could visit all things Magnolia, but specifically to grab a seat at Magnolia Table.
Chip and Joanna Gaines, from HGTV's Fixer Upper, has created quite a destination in Waco and their restaurant was fantastic from the design, to the vibe to the food! We would highly recommend a visit to this welcoming, warm and wonderful Waco spot (say that five times fast).
Upon our arrival (around 10:30a*) we were greeted at an outdoor hostess station where they took our number so they could text us when our table was ready. Being a Monday the wait was only one hour, which really flew by because of the outdoor cafe area where we both ordered some coffee and reviewed the menu. *Before visiting someone suggested that we dine either very early in the morning, or mid-morning right before lunch, to avoid long waits. So this could have also played a role in only an hour wait.

Once inside we were seated at table for two. As you can see from the photos the restaurant has individual or private seating, or long community tables and bar seating. We didn't give a preference when checking in, but we were able to have our own private table for breakfast.
Based on a friend's recommendation we had to try the Lemon Lavender Donut Holes. These cake donut holes are drizzled in a lemon lavender glaze + topped with fresh lemon zest. Oh my delicious! They were fantastic with the Texas pecan coffee. But to even it out, we both also ordered a fresh, green juice which was very tasty! Got to get our greens!
For breakfast we order the same thing, the Kind Breakfast: two scrambled eggs + wheat berry toast + fresh avocado + thick slices of heirloom tomato served on a bed of simply dressed greens. All so very fresh! They say that much of their produce comes right from Joanna's farm garden, and many of the eggs comes from her chickens too. To see the full menu click here.
After we thoroughly enjoyed our meals we walked back to the Take Away + Market and snapped a few photos. (In full disclosure, because it was pretty busy Monday morning a few of these inside photos of the empty restaurant were taken Sunday night where we decided to drive by and check it out when it was closed).
Both Tiffany and Michele very much enjoyed our visit to Magnolia Table and thought it to be the highlight of all things Magnolia. We would definitely visit again to try more options and would highly suggest that if you are in the Waco area, or even if you are driving down I-35 from Fort Worth to Austin, to stop at this restaurant and grab a seat. It is definitely a treat worth indulging in!
Things to Note: Restaurant Hours are Monday - Saturday 6:00am - 3:00pm, Take Away Hours are Monday - Saturday 7:00am - 4:00pm. They are closed on Sunday. Dining is first come, first served. They do not accept reservations. There is parking available at Magnolia Table, but it is very limited. We took an Uber to avoid any parking issues.
Did you know? Magnolia Table used to be The Elite Cafe which was a part of Waco for nearly 100 years. The original restaurant was in another part of Waco and was wildly popular so they opened this second location at the Waco Traffic Circle in 1941 (the large traffic circle reminded us of "Hey look kids, there's Big Ben and there's Parliament," every time we drove around it). When Elite closed in 2016, Chip and Joanna purchased the building and began its renovation, preserving its history, while also giving it a fresh start.
