Our Amalfi Coast Cruise to Capri with Bluestar Positano

Hey there, Gadabout Gal Kelly here!

If you follow us on Instagram or Facebook, you know that we all recently returned from a fun and fabulous bucket list trip to Rome and the Amalfi Coast. We had such a wonderful time…so many great memories!

We are always our happiest on a boat!

After a fabulous sunset cruise together on our Belize trip in May 2018, we decided that on each trip we take together…we need to include a boat excursion.

Our time on the Amalfi Coast gave us the perfect chance for another fun experience on the water.

As you probably already know, the Amalfi Coast is a very popular travel destination, and one of the most beautiful spots in the world. Seeing all of that beauty via a boat was definitely on our Italy trip wish list!

SIDENOTE: If you love all things Italy, we recommend you follow Nicki Positano on Instagram and YouTube. Her posts and videos highlight so many of the scenic and fun things to do in and around the Amalfi Coast.

We had planned and booked our Italy trip almost a year ahead of our departure, and during that time we loved checking out Nicki’s posts, videos and suggestions for tourists.

Many of Nicki’s posts mention Bluestar Positano boat tours, and after seeing those beautiful photos and reading multiple great online reviews, we decided to book a full day small group tour to Capri with Bluestar. It turned out to be one of our most favorite days of the entire trip!

Check out some of the highlights:

Our day started with an early morning pickup via a Bluestar boat at the Port of Praiano, near where we were staying. This was our first time seeing the Amalfi Coastline from the water, and it was breathtaking ~ everything we had seen in photos and dreamed about…

and so much more!

After a short ride to Positano, we checked in with Bluestar on the beach. The owner Elisabeth had been so helpful with information prior to our trip, she and her staff are great and so friendly!

Soon, our boat for the day arrived and we all boarded and met Captain Massimo.

We can’t say enough wonderful things about Captain Massimo, he truly made our day memorable and so much fun! We appreciated his knowledge of the area and the information and stories that he shared. He was so professional, yet warm and very funny as well.

In planning our trip to Italy, once we had decided that we wanted to visit Capri, one of the reasons we chose this private boat excursion was the small group size ~ 12 person maximum. There were four of us in our Gadabout Gals group (me, Michele, Tiffany and Jeff), and 7 other passengers on our boat for the day. This group size was perfect. The boat was beautiful and very spacious, with plenty of room on deck for all of us to spread out and relax. Below deck, there was a bedroom/changing area and two private bathrooms.

The full-day excursion we chose included a 3-hour stopover in Capri, with free time for everyone to explore at their leisure.

(We’ll share more about our time in Capri in another post!)

Captain Massimo showed us some truly beautiful sights, from Positano to Capri, then back again. The trip over also included some delicious prosecco and snacks.

He took us to see multiple grottos and hidden coves along the coast, and he made sure we had plenty of time to stop to swim and snorkel. Bluestar provides everyone with towels, snorkel masks and swim noodles.

The times (both up and back) that we stopped to swim and explore at the grottos were some of the best parts of our excursion! The water was a beautiful crystal blue…I especially loved using the snorkel mask to see all of the colorful fish swimming around us!

As we neared Capri, we traveled through the famed Faraglioni rocks. Since it’s quite the ‘Insta-worthy’ spot, we all had to pose for some fun pics.

Legend has it that couples who kiss as they pass through the rocks will stay together forever ~ so we also got some great pics of Tiff and Jeff doing just that!

On our cruise back to Positano at the end of the day, we stopped one more time to swim in a cove…then we returned to the boat and Captain Massimo served us limoncello as we relaxed with our fellow passengers and toasted to the amazing day.

We loved our unforgettable cruise to Capri with BlueStar Positano, and we cannot thank Elisabeth and Captain Massimo enough. If you are planning a trip to the Amalfi Coast and looking to book a fun and fabulous boat excursion, we all highly recommend this family-owned business ~ you will not be disappointed!
